After two dramatic criminal trials ending in acquittal, most people assumed the Karen Read saga was over.

They were wrong. Six months after the not-guilty verdict, the case is arguably bigger—and messier—than ever. Here are the 5 storylines that true-crime followers simply cannot stop talking about right now.

1, Canton selectboard meetings are still occupied by loonies calling innocent people Murderers with no evidence, and attacking one of its members. Here is a video. https://x.com/leah_baker_art/status/1990959880291704983?s=46

This is Brenda Sweeney, who from all accounts was a nice, sweet old lady , until someone told her that Woodstock is back and the new fight for justice was a story about a cover-up that has been completely debunked by actual irrefutable data, science, and the suspect’s own statements. Before the original affidavit by Alan Jackson came out, no one knew that Karen was in reverse, 24 mph, pedal decreased 75% at the same time John O’Keefe’s phone stopped moving. (Her own forensic data analyst doesn't disagree with the reverse.) Matthew Disogra.

No, she continues to show up and scream and yell about a cover-up with no evidence, like ever.

And continues to harass a Select Board member relentlessly. My question is when does it stop? When does law enforcement end the harassment? It’s a public forum, but decorum is a bedrock for small (d) democracy. This isn't Woodstock, Grandma (if you have any GK). Go home, clip some coupons, and try to bake a pie. Maybe you're good at that.

  1. New: Adam Deitch is running for District attorney of Norfolk County to replace ledandry DA Michael Morrissey, Adam claims to be part of the Previous USAO of josh Leavy, Which bundled the investigation of a so called Cover Up in the death of Office John O'keefe, Also why ARCCA was embarrassed by Adam Lally, and Hank Brennan, Adam Deitch could be responsible for the millions spent in NCDAO for investigating the easiest hit and run case in Massachusetts history. Yet he thinks the residents in this county wants someone that believes a soccer mom, dog and two outstanding law enforcement agents, chased a man up and down the stairs, beat him unconscious, let a dog bite John, all in 8 seconds and then Dragged him to he front yard still alive with his phone underneath him. Yeah that's totally sane, His cover will be he can't talk about the crazy story his office created, but he will tell you, That DA Morrissey is the corrupt one. I reached out to Adam BEitch i mean Deitch for comment, we will see if he responds.

Side Note he is using ACTBLUE to collect donations, A massive left wing organization, so he might think men belong in thelittle girls room, and MEN can play woman sports.

3. Karen Read’s DUD Civil Rights Lawsuit (Filed November 18, 2025)Just when everyone thought the courtroom battles were finished, Read dropped a 46-page federal-style civil rights complaint in Plymouth Superior Court naming:

  • Hero lead investigator Trooper Michael Proctor

  • Lt. Brian Tully and Sgt. Yuri Bukhenik

  • Key prosecution witnesses Jennifer McCabe, Brian Albert, and Brian Higgins

The suit accuses them of an elaborate frame-up and cover-up, claiming they “manufactured evidence” and “conspired to violate her constitutional rights.” Read is seeking millions in damages for emotional distress, malicious prosecution, and civil rights violations.Social media exploded within hours. Supporters are calling it “the real trial we deserved,” while critics say it’s nothing more than a desperate PR stunt.

  1. The Albert/McCabe/Higgins Defamation CounterattackThe same day Read filed her lawsuit, the so-called “House Defendants” fired back with a blistering statement labeling her claims “a vile work of fiction” and vowing to sue both Read and blogger Aidan “Turtleboy” Kearney for defamation.Legal experts say the defamation fight could drag on for years and force even more embarrassing discovery—including text messages, phone records, and possibly new witness depositions. Many are predicting this civil war will reveal evidence neither side wanted public during the criminal trials.

5. The O’Keefe Family’s Wrongful-Death Lawsuit Marches On John O’Keefe’s estate (represented by his brother Paul) is still pursuing a civil wrongful-death suit against Karen Read and two Canton bars that served her that night.A key hearing is scheduled for November 21, 2025. Read’s attorneys want to consolidate it with her new lawsuit and add counter-defendants; the O’Keefe family wants it kept completely separate. Whatever the judge decides, discovery in this case will almost certainly produce new documents and depositions the public has never seen. The family released a heartbreaking statement last week: “This is not about money. It’s about holding the person who killed John accountable in the only forum still available.”Final ThoughtsLove her or hate her, one thing is undeniable: Karen Read is not going quietly.
